The on-airport car parks sit within the T1 precinct, a short walk from the terminal doors, with covered and open-air sections. If you are driving in yourself, follow signs for International and then for your chosen car park. The walk from the nearest bay to check-in takes about five minutes. Off-site shuttles from Mascot drop passengers at the T1 forecourt.
T2 and T3 sit at the southern end of the airport. The domestic car parks are close to the terminal entrances, and the walk is shorter than at T1. Access is via Qantas Drive or Departure Drive depending on which terminal you are heading to. Off-site shuttles from Mascot usually serve this precinct on the same run as T1, but confirm with your operator before you book.
Allow about ten minutes to drive from one precinct to the other in normal traffic. The internal airport roads carry a lot of vehicles during morning and evening peaks, and that time can double. There is no shuttle bus between T1 and T2 or T3 for general travellers, and no safe walking route. If you are connecting, plan the drive or use a taxi or rideshare.
On-airport parking is the only option where you walk from your car straight to the terminal. At T1, the walk is around five minutes from the nearest bays. At T2 and T3, it is closer — often two minutes. This is the main reason travellers pick on-airport parking for short trips, and the reason to think twice about it if you are moving several suitcases or travelling with small children.
Covered sections are closer to the terminal entrances at both precincts, but they fill first. Open-air bays are further back and usually cheaper. If rain or mobility matters, the covered section is worth the difference.
Off-site shuttles run from the Mascot car parks to the terminal forecourts, typically every 10 to 20 minutes. The journey takes 8 to 15 minutes depending on traffic. On return, you call the operator or wait at the designated pickup point. Shuttle hours vary, so if your flight lands late, confirm the overnight arrangement before you book the bay.
Times are typical ranges. Traffic, construction and peak demand can extend all of them.
Each terminal has a designated drop-off and pickup area with its own time limits and charges. You cannot leave your car unattended in the pickup zone, and staying over the limit attracts a fee. For arrivals, the free waiting area lets you wait off the terminal loop until your passenger is ready, then collect them within a short window. Read the signs at the entry — the rules differ slightly between T1 and the domestic terminals.
